Wherever possible, I use organic and sustainable materials. I source fabrics that are grown organically, or those, like linen and hemp, that do not require large quantities of insecticides and vast amounts of water to grow. I seek out fabrics whose production methods are fair trade and where weavers and makers are paid a fair wage and work in good conditions with sustainable long term benefits for communities. All screen printing and embroidery is carried out in my studios. Sewing and shade making is outsourced to local seamstresses and small manufacturers in Kent. The product range uses organic cotton and natural linen, with Soil Association approved inks. Importantly my drum shades are made with an environmentally friendly eco-bleach card backing, rather than the usual PVC laminate which is so harmful to the environment.
